Project Overview

When Vestas, the world’s largest manufacturer of wind turbines, took the lease of the ground floor at 302 Bridgewater Place on Birchwood Park, Warrington, Standing Space was invited by CBRE to design the fit-out of 13,500 sq. ft of newly completed floor space as Vestas UK HQ.

Close involvement of the client’s UK management throughout the design and construction process ensured that when Vestas took occupation, everyone was thoroughly familiar with their new home. This familiarity was facilitated by Standing Space - as we produced a stream of 3D views and plans for consultation about their new commercial building and office space.

Entry is via a dedicated reception suite of meeting rooms, cloaks, etc. The main office is open plan, embracing the concept of agile working, touchdown meeting spaces, quiet pods for individuals, phone booths, highly glazed offices for a limited number of directors and necessary ancillary functions, including a large tea point with relax and refreshment area.

On moving in, the clients commented, “we knew where everything was immediately” - a commercial interior design project that is truly functional.

Building History

BDP designed and built Bridgewater Place in the early 2000s. The development features a lovely pedestrian walkway between the buildings, complete with landscaping and a water feature.

Design Challenges

The primary hurdle was harmonising aesthetics with functionality. Given Vestas' commitment to sustainability, integrating eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient solutions was imperative. Moreover, we had to create an ambiance that fostered innovation and collaboration while ensuring privacy for individual workspaces. Balancing these dynamics in the interior layout was a meticulous task, requiring careful selection of furniture, lighting, and spatial arrangements. Our approach prioritised ergonomics and the seamless integration of technology to empower Vestas' workforce.

Client Testimonial

"Our Warrington office underwent a major refurbishment which was project managed by CBRE. Jess Standing of Standing Space Ltd was engaged by them as the interior Designer. We were very pleased with the design and layout of the office, which successfully integrated our corporate identity within the scheme.  Jess set up a Focus Group of Employees, when issues arose Jess was very proactive in finding design solutions that addressed these matters, meeting our needs as a client and presenting solutions not problems."
